The Janome DC 2014 - Computerized Sewing Machine at A Low End Price!
After my Brother sewing machine was beyond repair, I was in the market for a new machine. I did lots of research and went to local shops that sold sewing machines and after testing Bernina, Singer, Brother etc I decided I wanted a Janome. The DC2012 sews through burlap and denim like butter. It is also gentle enough to sew through silks and light cottons. I love the automatic threader and cutter, the 50 built in stitches, the top loading bobbin, the speed adjustment, and the overall ease of this machine! I learned to sew when I was 18 (I'm only 25 now) so I am still learning new things, and I would recommend this to a beginner as well as a sewing veteran (and anyone in between)!
Bought this machine after years of using a Husqvarna Viking machine which was great but needed servicing and since I brought it from Europe, decided buying something new was probably the most cost-effective given the age of the Husqvarna.
RIght out of the box, this was a great machine, so easy to use and very intuitive. Love it. Can’t be happier.
Nice quality machine. Sews like a dream. I haven't sewed in 30 years. I was a very good sewer. Very experienced. But, 30 years later I'm a beginner again. This machine is a million times better than my old singer dinosaur was. I just did some upholstery work with it. Amazing. Took the heavy fabric like it was nothing. Then I played with the fancy stitches. I made hearts, snowflakes, flowers and it performed perfectly. I did have to watch the YouTube video to learn a few things,. I recommend Crafty Gemini's instructional videos on the Janome machines. I will admit I researched the heck out of machines before selecting this one. At one time I had about a dozen models on my wish list. Feel confident in purchasing this machine. It's a treasure.
I decided to replace my 20 year old sewing machine with this lovely Janome. I was used to using a mechanical machine rather than an electronic one but it has not taken me long to learn how to use it.The instruction book is very clear. I would advise anyone using an electronic machine for the first time to sit down and read through the book before starting to sew. There are still many features I have not used yet but I never used all the features on my old machine either.
The machine has more than enough stitches for me to do anything I need to do. I have completed so many projects that I had piled up! It's amazing how much you can get done when a machine works properly! The tension settings are easy to manage and I have had no trouble sewing on a variety of fabrics from sheers to knits. I love the variable speed setting. It is easy to get things done when you are not having to constantly readjust your machine settings and tension.
The fact that this machine came with so many attachments helped me decide to purchase. I had many attachments for my old machine that I knew would not work with this one. The walking foot was especially important to me.
I was pleased with the speed of shipping from the supplier. The sewing machine was well packaged and arrived without a scratch.
I would recommend this machine to anyone that is still struggling with a regular mechanical machine. I am enjoying sewing again and you can too!
It works like a dream and beats the heck out of my old Singer Golden Touch and Sew with the wind in place bobbin. But that's a low bar.
This machine is solid, works well every time, has no bobbin tension problems, is easy to thread. and has adjustable sewing speed. I have been using this a great deal, making many bags, bibis, and mending heavy clothing and curtains. I am sure the higher models are even more fabulous!
