I couldn't be more happy with my new machine! The features on it are just was I was looking for. Set up was easy with the instruction manual and the machine is very user-friendly. The I received everything in its original packaging and within the estimated delivery time. The standard accessories kit includes bobbins, a needle set, zipper foot, satin stitch foot, and buttonhole foot, and more. It is worth it to spend a little extra for a machine you know will last you a life time versus buying something cheap at Walmart that will probably break on you in 6 months. I would definitely recommend this machine to anyone whether you just starting out (like me) or you've have lots of experience.

I've only had the machine for a week now and I am a complete beginner but so far it works well. I chose this machine because of the fact that people say it's good for beginners but it also has enough so that you can do more with it once you're beyond beginner status. My grandmother, who has been sewing for a long time, tested it out and said that it works better than her machine and that she could tell/hear that it has a great motor. She was blown away by the quality of the machine for the price and plans on buying a brother to replace her old machine. I also got the universal case for it which I'm not sure I'd recommend if you're going to be lugging it around, a rolling case would be better. I only wen with the plastic case because I worry about things falling on it where I store it.Before I bought this machine I had never so much as sewn on a button. I bought it to do mending and make costumes. I wanted a real sewing machine that was more capable than the super small ones that all seem to have universally horrible reviews, but not so loaded down with options that it was confusing for a beginner to use. I decided on the XM2701 because of the light, needle threader, one-step button and easy thread bobbin.

This is a great basic machine. I purchased it strictly as a back-up/travel machine -- I love it and find I use it more than I thought I would. It runs smoothly, it's quiet, and sews through multiple layers of duck cloth canvas without any problems. Easy out of the box set up, sew and go. Great machine, great price. 5 stars!

    Easy and Versatile

I recently purchased a Janome DC1050 through Amazon.Com and I have been extremely pleased with the machine provider and the machine. I just completed a baby bassinet cover and matching fitted sheet. The Janome came equipped with settings to serge my seams, put in a blind hem, zig zag setting for securing elastic together for the fitted sheet, and button holes. I purchased an extra rolled hem foot for finishing the little edges and I plan to get all of the sizes offered in this foot--talk about a time saver-no more measuring and ironing and measuring and ironing... The manual for the machine is pretty good, but I supplemented with online tutorials since most everything I did was new to me. This is a great machine for beginners.
