I don't quite remember what inspired me to start sewing, I think the idea struck home when I wanted new pillow cases, nothing in the stores suited me and I said to myself, SELF! This can't be that hard!
My mother originally let me borrow a Euro Pro X, what a piece of garbage that was. Thread breaking, touchy, couldn't even do a line of stitches without something jamming or pulling out. Then she gifted me with this lovely machine. It was between this and the Janome HD1000, but I wanted something with a little more in the feature area in case I wanted to get fancy down the line.
So far I've completed a full bobbins worth of projects I had to stall because of the crappy Euro Pro, including a new cover for a curved chair cushion my oldest son stained beyond cleaning, and a faux fur pull over I was dying to make. So far I have not run into one snag and it's so easy to use! I've been using it more than once a day for a full week now.
Bobbin threading and needle threading steps are right on the machine. Pedal speed can be controlled by a slider, which means fully depressed can still be slow, or fast. The bobbin is a drop in with a clear plate so you can see how much thread is left without removing anything. Stitch selection, and width is super easy to use even without looking at the manual. You can even sew without the pedal but I haven't tried that yet. The machine remembers what position the needle was in last time you stopped, and does it every time you stop. I thought that was a ridiculous feature but I used it, and it's NICE. No more having to remember EVERY TIME you need to pull the fabric out to pull the needle up like on some machines.
Very happy with this purchase!
I LOVE this sewing machine. My husband got it for me for this past Christmas. My old sewing machine (a hand-me-down with nothing but issues from my mother-in-law) was at the end of its life. I do mostly quilting and a few minor costumes (come Halloween) so I didn't need anything super fancy. Compared to all the trouble I had with my old machine this thing is like a vacation. I actually ENJOY sewing on it. It's easy to thread, wind the bobbin, change the bobbin and change the feet. Also, the extra feet aren't that expensive to get compared with my old machine ($20 vs. $100 for one particular foot) While there aren't many decorative stitches (which I don't need or want anyway) there are plenty of general use stitches. It's also pretty lightweight for a sewing machine. (esp compared to my old behemoth) I have been nothing but happy with this machine and I would highly reccomend it (or any other Janome) to anyone looking for a well made, easy to use machine. Happy Sewing!
Quilting with batting and flannel backing? No problem. Bag making, easy peasy. I loooove this machine!!!

LOVE this sewing machine. Been sewing for 40 years and this is the best machine I've had. Good quality for your money, if you can't afford an expensive machine.
