Great tools make your project easier and more fun! Use your serger to apply piping and finish your edges all in one operation! The piping foot guides narrow piping into the serging area leaving your hands free to guide your fabric. You can even create your own piping using fabric strips and piping cord. What could be faster and easier? Use the piping foot to create filled bias cording, spaghetti straps and more! You will love the ease with which you can be really creative!

I'm just learning to use this foot, but so far have loved being able to use my serger to add piping to projects. The product is good quality and fits my Brother serger just fine.

Adds a great function to your Brother or Huskylock serger

This foot fits many Brother sergers or some of the Huskylocks (from 700 up to the 900 series; those were made by Brother as it turns out.) I'm using it on my Huskylock 700, an obsolete model for which there are few Viking parts but the Brother work quite well. This foot certainly fits the 1034D Brother Serger, which probably is one of the most common on the market. This is a snap-on foot; you depress the release and attach it as you would any sewing machine foot. The groove on the bottom allow you to run piping under it, either attaching it to fabric or making piping by covering cord with bias strip or straight-grain strip fabric. (Bias fabric rounds curves better.) I made a cover for my sewing machine by simply stitching piping and a strip of fabric to two sides that covered front and back. I pulled the strip around the corners of the side squares and ended up with piping in the rounded seams. It turns out you can also sew zippers using a serger (supposedly a NO-NO) using the piping foot. Set the machine up for three thread serging, needle in the right-hand side of the machine. Attach the piping foot and place the closed zipper teeth under the groove of the foot. Stitch along the edge of the fabric. Match the other edge and put the teeth under the groove and stitch. You need a zipper four inches longer than your insert and you do not stitch down the seam first. This is a way not to have a raw edge of fabric under your zipper seam allowance. Rather nice. If you like to make chair covers, upholstery or bags, the piping foot is very useful.

I bought this as an extra foot for my serger. When you want to sew, you need to have the proper tools to do the job.

    Works fine

The foot worked fine; no complaints there. Definitely works better with 3mm piping than 5mm piping. At the time of purchase, I wished they had more than one size option available. But I am ruefully writing this review because I bought the piping foot, only to have my 2.5 yr old Brother 1034D serger die (irreparably) by going out of timing less than a month later. Out of necessity I have now upgraded my serger (and serger brand).
