I have had this machine for six months. I have been sewing for more years than I care to admit but I still consider myself to be a beginner at quilting. I have another machine that has decorative stitches and other functions but this one just goes backwards and forwards. Since the mechanism is simple there is little to go wrong. I just thread it and go. It will go a lot faster than I can sew. I bought it to primarily do piecing and machine quilting. It has a larger throat to help accommodate the machine quilting. I am still learning how to do that but so far I am very pleased. I also find that it is my machine of choice when I just need a straight stitch. The price was very reasonable. It comes with a collection of presser feet including a walking foot which I had to buy separately for my other machine. I love this machine.
This is a really nice machine and I am very satisfied. It is made with quality and sees very easy and consistent. It has worked well for free motion quilting with the presser foot down close on the quilt sandwich which allows you great control. The only issue I have is with the bobbin in sideways and upside down from an old style machine I tend to drop it or struggle getting it in property. But that is minor and I will get accustomed to it.
I really haven't sewn too much with it yet but plan to use it a lot as winter comes in. This machine is a great choice for both quilting and straight stitch sewing. It is fast and can take some getting used to when trying to control your speed.it would be nice if there were a speed regulator or a way to set the pedal at slower speeds. The Machines arrived packaged very well and on time.
I am delightd with my new machine. It surpasses my expectations. It is very easy to use. Piecing is much easier than I expected. Due to the single hole, fabric is not pulled down at the start. I love the ease of switching to free quilting. The stitching is very smooth in both modes. It is really quiet.
I have not figured out the needle threader yet. I think the hole in the needle that came on the machine is too small. I do miss the adjustable speed control on my computerized machine when fmq but that is improving with practice. It has all of the features that I really wanted in a fmq machine at a much more affordable price than the computerized machines. The large throat is just what I needed. I would definitely recommend it.
I bought this machine for 2 purposes. 1, to improve my quilt piecing quality and speed and 2 because it has the ability to use a speed control and the Grace Stitch Regulator. It reportedly did almost everything I wanted in a high speed sewing machine at a decent price.
What I like best: Fast, accurate piecing with the pin on the feed (love this for accurate piecing), quieter than the other 3 sewing machines I have, it fits perfectly inside the garage sale old sewing cabinet I picked up for $25. The thread cutter is a feature I've never had with my other domestic sewing machines and I love that feature! The knee presser foot lifter is an extra bonus for me as I've never had one of those either. It's nice to be able keep both hands on my project while I lift the foot.
What I like least: The 1/4" foot. I like having an edge guide on my presser foot so I purchased one separately. I now can get the perfect scant 1/4" seam without even trying! The foot and edge guide included with the machine isn't accurate enough for my piecing. I also dislike the cumbersome needle threader on this model. I wish it was as easy as the automatic needle threader on my other brother sewing machine.
I have purchased both the speed control and the stitch regulator, but have not purchased the frame needed (mine won't work with the regulator wheels) so I can't comment on the ability to use it on a frame with the regulator.
I have now had this machine for about a year. I quilt A LOT, and here is what I think. This machine is about half the price of the virtually identical machines sold by Baby Lock and others. Quilters: You know how you have to use a starter scrap to keep fabric from being 'sucked' into the throat plate? No more. Haven't used a starter scrap in a year, thanks to this machine. What a time-saver!...The thread cutting mechanism is wonderful!...never misses the thread, I don't even sew with scissors by my side any more, I don't need them with this machine. The tension is perfect each and every time!
I have 6 other machines, most far more expensive than this one, but, need I say it, this is my favorite. Do yourself a favor, and get this thing. PS: If you quilt your own projects, this machine has a nice big arm clearance that will accomodate a lot of fabric.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS MACHINE. I have had sewing machines, but this beauty surpassed all them. i love that it quick sews and has a needle threader. I got this for my business and i absolutely love it. Havent had one problem with it. It helps me make money quickly.(quilting business)
I ask many questions about this machine before ordering it.
Thank you to all for your replies. :)
By the time my UPS man got it here I was worn out from waiting. LOL
So after supper I sat down and read the manual.
I begin to try to thread, I felt like crying I just could not get it.
I went to the videos about this machine and finally got it threaded.
Well then the stitching was way off. Looping thread on the bottom.
I had to walk away at this point I was sure I had
made a really big mistake.
I finally went back to machine made some more adjustments, rethreaded, finally got it
I have quilted, stippling stitches on 3 quilts and 2 tote bags.
I absolutely love this machine......it is the fastest machine I have ever owned.
It does a GREAT job on free motion stippling.
I highly recommend this machine. :) :) :) :) :) :)
This was a purchase made as a back-up sewing machine, and it was by far the best purchase I have made in a long time. Not only is the stitch just perfect, the ease of use is wonderful and the extended table is a great size. Best price out there for this machine and the only thing that should be done differently is the quarter inch sewing foot that is shown to be purchased as an extra...don't buy it, it is not the correct foot and you can truly find your perfect quarter inch seam quickly and it is truly perfect!!! The machine is so quiet, and since there isn't a computer to boot up on the machine, you are ready to sew the minute you turn on the machine. I love it and now wonder why I waited so long.....
There are not enough stars for this machine. It's great and arrived right on schedule. This machine will handle multiple layers of fabric and I really like the speed. I am doing upholstery work right now with it and as soon as I am finished I will set it up for quilting. No problems or complaints.
