    3-thread Juki MO-623

Posted by FruGal on 23rd May 2021

This serger does fewer things than a 4 or 5-thread model, but it does them well. Is it easy to thread? Not especially, but not harder than the average serger. You only have to deal with 3 spools and thread paths, so in that sense it is a little faster to thread. I chose this because 90% of my sewing is just 3-three thread seams, so there was no need to spend more for extra features I don't need. I sew women's clothing using light to medium weight woven and knot fabrics. I use the serger for both seam finishes and garment construction. If I need a 4th thread I just use my regular machine. It handles all these fabrics well, and sewing knit tops, leggings etc. can be done in minutes. While it's fine to use a regular sewing machine for knits, this is best for times when I just want to get it done in a hurry. I don't normally sew heavy denims, canvas etc. so I can't comment on that. I also didn't buy the extra attachment for 2-thread rolled hems. I seldom sew these. Be aware that if you need to do this type of hem, you will need the attachment.

    great basic serger

Posted by Lisa on 27th Aug 2018

my purpose has always just for overlocking fabric edging to prevent fraying. had simple juki 3 thread serger from the 80's that finally quit 5 years ago. went with a up to 5 thread name brand (but not juki) serger due to a super duper deal. i ended up using only the 3 thread function and it was not as quiet nor as smooth with the fabric pull. so came back to this simple basic just what i need brand and model. so far i have only used it for thin and medium weight fabric and both came out with pretty even taunt stitching. i will have to remember the tensions adjustments for different fabric weight. leave lots of varied weight scrap fabric around for the "testing" before sewing the actual project! the only CON: no cut away remnant catch tray

3 threads not a good idea., choose 4 or 5 thread.

Posted by Javier Garcia on 18th Dec 2017

The machine is amazing the way it works and the use., but the problem is it's only 3 threads!!!!, if I would of know at the time., 3 thread won't work all your clothes will break so fast., not a good idea., invest in 4 or 5 thread that's my advice!, but as I mention this design works amazingly.

    Perfect home machine

I was looking for an easy-to-use home serger for an easy-to-accept price. This was a great choice. I've only been using it for a month now, but it does everything I ask it to do and I feel like my ability to produce clothing has expanded and is faster. Definitely recommend this if you are looking for a serger to use at home.

Small machine, easy to use. Works well with stretch and regular fabrics. But on thin fabric the seam looks different than the one done on industrial machine.

    Juki serger

Posted by P. Kehler on 9th Oct 2017

Purchased the serger as a gift for my wife and she was very excited! Works very well and the price was the same or better than ANY other site, nice not having to shop around. It did everything it said it did and was not a disappointment. The video it came with was a little outdated but very quick and easy in describing what it can all do. I purchased Juki because of the quality in the name brand and not the functions, but from what I hear from my wife it does everything she could need. If you buy the extra feet (like all sergers) than it could do even more. Value for the money, compact and well made.
