This amazing sewing machine will give you everything you need to complete projects quickly and easily. The Janome 1600P-QC boasts speeds of 1,600 stitches per minute making this the fastest machine on the market; with nearly 9" x 6" to the right of the needle the 1600P-QC gives an extra wide work area; the side-loading bobbin allows for easy access, even from a quilt frame; the automatic thread cutter cuts top and bottom thread at the push of a button; an independent motor allows you to wind bobbins while you're sewing; and the ergonomic knee lift lets you raise the presser foot while keeping your hands on your work. I bought this machine about 5 years ago to use with a Grace quilt frame. The frame has been in storage, but the machine has become my "go to" for everything it will do (opposed to my Janome Horizon 7700QCP). Straight stitch only. Extremely heavy duty. Bobbins larger and different. Super fast. The fastest on "turtle" is faster than I can go after 35 years of sewing/quilting. Great tension. Great for freemotion. I do have the cover plate for FMQ but great tip to use Supreme Slider. I used a piece of cardboard before I got the plate. Also use the FMQ hopping foot. If you are looking for sturdy, mechanical, fast, straight stitch, this is THE One.
I've had troubles with less expensive machines since my old Viking gave up the ghost years ago. And by less expensive, I bought a $1,000 Janome with all kinds of fancy stitches (which I didn't ever use). This is sturdy and a workhorse. I use it for making quilts and have never had any trouble at all.
The needle threader works but it a tad more awkward than others I've had but it has a thread cutter, press a button and both threads cut. It's worth the trade off to spend an extra second or two threading the needle.
Bought this sewing machine to use with my Hinterberg frame and it is perfect. I am new to quilting and didn't want to break the bank and this was a perfect compromise. Having a little trouble with the needle threaded but with practice I think I can master it. Sew Vac was the best price and I was able to secure a coupon for even more savings and it arrived when it was suppose to. Overall very happy. Thanks.
I have just used it as a sewing machine so far and it is wonderful. When my quilting frame arrives I will get it set up with that and try it out. I am sure it will work great since it sews great.
